What is included in our Ayahuasca Retreats in Europe?

The following list offers a helpful overview of what is included in the retreat experience.
An integral journey where preparation, ceremony, and integration are equally important.

The Experience

This retreat is shaped around a few essential principles that guide how we hold the space and how we work. They are not concepts to achieve, but orientations that inform every decision we make throughout the experience.

Coherence

At our Ayahuasca retreats in Europe we understand inner work as a process of alignment between what we feel, what we think, and how we live. This retreat invites participants to observe where there may be incoherence within themselves — not as a problem to fix, but as information. From that recognition, more honest choices can begin to take shape, both during the retreat and beyond it.

Safety

Feeling safe is not only about physical care, but about how one is treated and seen. We hold the space with respect, without judgment or pressure, and we are attentive to the group dynamic so that participants arrive with a similar level of seriousness and responsibility. This shared attitude allows people to relax into the process and engage more honestly with what arises.

Open-Mindedness

Our approach is not limited to a single worldview or spiritual framework. We integrate different therapeutic tools, cultural perspectives, and ways of understanding consciousness, while honoring the role of plant medicines within that broader context. This openness allows each person to relate to the experience in a way that feels authentic and meaningful to them.

Comfort

We treat this retreat as something valuable and deserving of care. Attention is given to the quality of the space, the rhythm of the days, and the practical details that allow participants to rest and feel supported. Creating a comfortable environment is not about luxury, but about offering the conditions to go through an intense experience with dignity, professionalism, and ease.

Hola familia! 😍🫶 thank you so much for your kind presence during the retreat, they really touched me. Since Ayahuasca a lot has been shed off and I can hear my inner voice so much more clearly, this was my wish. I know it also touched the other girls and I am so grateful for the space you held for us. 🙏🏽

Who We Are & Why We Do This

We are a family united by years of experience in spiritual work and conscious relationship with plant medicines. Mahanse was born from what once shifted our lives in a profound and lasting way, and today our purpose is to carry that change forward, creating spaces where others can meet it for themselves.

About the team

The project was founded by Fransie, who serves as ceremony guide and holds the central responsibility for the retreats. His path with sacred plants has been shaped by years of experience, deep study, and the accompaniment of hundreds of people through carefully guided processes after learning with the Elders from the Colombian Jungle.

Fransie guides the ceremonies, works with Yagé, and carries the musical and vocal dimension of the retreat. As a musician, songwriter, and dedicated student of spirituality, plant medicine, and breathwork, he holds the space with clarity, patience, and grounded presence. His role is supported at every step by the team, ensuring that the work is held with strength, sensitivity, and care.

Marcelo and Raúl accompany every ceremony, protecting the ceremonial space and supporting participants throughout the process. They tend the fire, hold the energetic field, and offer bodywork and massage therapies during the retreat. Their presence provides stability, containment, and physical support, allowing participants to feel held on multiple levels.

Marcelo brings a joyful, expansive energy to the space, expressed through movement, embodiment, and his therapeutic work. Raúl offers a deeply grounded presence, serving as a guardian of the fire and facilitator of Rapé, while also supporting the retreat through sound work, Reiki, and massage therapies. Together, they help sustain a strong and balanced ceremonial container.

Ju and Magda support the retreat through nourishment, body awareness, and energetic care. Ju prepares plant-based meals aligned with the traditional ceremonial diet, supporting grounding and integration through conscious nutrition. Magda works with embodiment, movement, and energetic awareness, accompanying participants before, during, and after the ceremonies. Alongside the core team, we often collaborate with musicians, yoga and meditation teachers, therapists, photographers, and medical professionals, forming a wider circle of support that adapts to each retreat with professionalism and care.

Frequently Asked Questions About Mahanse's Ayahuasca Retreats in Europe

In Spain, ayahuasca is not forbidden when used for personal, spiritual, or ceremonial purposes within private, non-profit contexts. This differs from many other countries where ayahuasca is prohibited, including the United Kingdom, France, Israel, and Russia. For this reason, Spain is one of the few places where ayahuasca retreats in Europe can be held discreetly and responsibly.

Is Ayahuasca safe?

Ayahuasca it’s safe when approached with responsibility, proper screening, and experienced guidance. At Mahanse, safety starts before the retreat through a careful selection process and clear contraindications. During the ceremonies, Fransie, with more than 4 years guiding ceremonies and our experienced team is present at all times. Ayahuasca can be intense and is not suitable for everyone, so participation is always a personal, informed decision.

Do I need previous experience with ayahuasca before the retreat?

No prior experience is required. Some participants are new to plant medicine, while others have worked with it before, and many have never experienced any psycodelics before. Intention and being ready to receive the messages the universe may have for you is more important than having experience with plant medicine.

How do I prepare for the experience? What is the ayahuasca diet?

Preparation includes following a specific diet and lifestyle guidelines before the retreat, such as avoiding alcohol, drugs, certain foods, and incompatible medications. These recommendations support safety and clarity. Preparation also involves mental and emotional readiness. We provide clear instructions in advance and are available to answer questions during this phase.

Do you guarantee healing or specific outcomes?

No. We do not guarantee healing, transformation, or any specific results. Each experience is personal and depends on many factors, including your life context and readiness. Most people gain insights and emotional clarity, while others experience challenge or stillness. We offer a well-held space and guidance, not promises. Integration and meaning remain your responsibility, but we will be there to support you before during and after the retreat.

What if I don’t feel ready to participate in all ceremonies?

Participation in every activity during the retreat is always voluntary. Listening to your limits is part of the process and is fully respected. Resting, observing, or sitting out a ceremony can be as meaningful as participating, depending on the moment and the person, so if you don’t feel like joining an integration, plant medicine ceremony or any other activity we will respect that.

What is included in the retreat, and what is not?

The retreat includes accommodation, meals aligned with the ceremonial diet, guided ceremonies, preparation support, integration spaces, a 1:1 therapy session and the presence of an experienced team. It does not include travel, transportation, kambó sessions or massage treatments. Full details are shared in advance so you can decide with clarity.

What happens after the retreat ends?

After the retreat, integration becomes essential. We encourage participants to move slowly, rest, and allow time for the experience to settle. We offer integration guidance, a whatsapp group community with other retreat participants, one group session videocall, but we do not position ourselves as ongoing authorities. How insights are integrated into daily life depends on personal choices, support systems, and individual responsibility. However, the team will remain available and therapy sessions can be booked after the retreat if you need guidance or support.
